PO-04-223 ASSOCIATION BETWEEN ANTIPARASITIC TREATMENT AND VENTRICULAR ARRYTHMIAS IN PATIENTS WITH CHAGAS DISEASE

چکیده

Benznidazole and Nifurtimox are the two currently available antiparasitic treatments for Chagas disease (CD), an important cause of cardiomyopathy arrhythmias. There limited data describing impact treatment on arrhythmia outcomes. Compare incidence ventricular arrhythmias in patients treated with anti-parasitic medication versus those who did not receive treatment. Patients at a center excellence were retrospectively analyzed ambulatory rhythm monitoring (Holter 14-day patch monitor). implantable cardiac devices excluded. Significant defined as either PVC burden >/=1% or non-sustained tachycardia (NSVT) ≥4 beats. based CD treatment: Benznidazole, Nifurtimox, no incomplete courses excluded from analysis. A Fisher exact test was used to compare categorical variables. 191 between 12/2014 8/2022 analysis, whom 66 underwent monitoring. Of these, 20 male 46 female average age 55.3 ± 12.6 years, ejection fraction 56.7 10.5%. patients, 42 (63.6%) received treatment, 22 (33.3%) had 2 (3.0%) CD. Among that CD, 11/42 (26.2%) significant In comparison, among 12/22 (54.5%) (p = 0.031). No difference number observed (7/29, 24.1%) (4/12, 33.3%) groups. These demonstrate is associated reduction Further studies needed determine if can lead reduced sudden death.

[Adenosine induces ventricular arrythmias in hearts with chronic chagas cardiomyopathy].

Adenosine released during ischemia and hypoxia can induce ventricular arrhythmias. This phenomenon is also observed in Chagas disease. This study involved pharmacologic analysis of the arrhythmogenic properties of adenosine in healthy Sprague-Dawley rats (n=14) and in rats with chronic Chagas cardiomyopathy (n=14). Electrocardiographic and pharmacologic studies were performed on isolated hearts...

Association of Bartonella spp bacteremia with Chagas cardiomyopathy, endocarditis and arrythmias in patients from South America

Infection with Bartonella spp may cause cardiac arrhythmias, myocarditis and endocarditis in humans. The aim of the present study was to evaluate a possible association between Bartonella spp bacteremia and endocarditis, arrhythmia and Chagas cardiomyopathy in patients from Brazil and Argentina. We screened for the presence of bacterial 16S rRNA in human blood by PCR using oligonucleotides to a...

Negative association between right bundle branch block and inducibility of ventricular tachyarrhythmias in Chagas disease

I read with interest the article by Cedraz et al.(1) describing their findings on the electrophysiological study of 115 chagasic patients. The authors reported that the presence of right bundle branch block (RBBB) was associated with less induction of sustained ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation (VT/VF) in a univariate analysis. In 56 patients with RBBB, VT/VF was induced in 35...
